What I'm Talking About

An excerpt from Mark Rashid'a book Nature in Horsemanship. "What I'm talking about here is the type of work that strives to move beyond what one might refer to as the synthetic horsemanship that we see so much of these days. It's getting past the type of horsemanship where the main focus is on the human, not necessarily the horse, and where making the horse perform needless and often mindless tasks over and over in the quest for respect is often the goal. Rather, the type of horsemanship I'm referring to here doesn't belong to anybody; it isn't trademarked, and it doesn't even have a name. It is simply the development of honest communication between horse and rider based on the best understanding we have for one another at any given time."
