Browband Give-away

As you all might know, I have been dabbling in the art of creating beaded browbands for bridles. You might have seen a few of them:

Multiple Greens, Yellow, Silver, Black and White

Dark Amethyst, Light Amethyst, Black and Silver

Bright Blue, Topaz, Black and Orange

Multiple Blues, Silver and multiple greys

So here's the deal. I am giving away one hand-beaded, custom designed, sized to fit your horse, browband. You will have input as to color choices and design, and then I will create it specifically for you. Artistic expression is entirely at my discretion, based on the beads and the loom and the design.

To enter, leave a comment on this post telling me something I don't know about you. (I figured it would be a fun way to discover something new about the people who read my blog.) I will include a second entry for anyone who wishes to mention the give away on their blog with a link to this post. I will give another entry to anyone who shares this on Facebook. (Yes, if you follow my blog and are linked to me on FB, then you could have 3 entries in the drawing.)

The give away will be by random drawing.

The contest will close on 2/28/14 and a winner will be drawn and announced on March 1st, which may be pretty close to my 500th blog post. Good luck.

  1. Great contest! You probably don't know that I was a creative writing minor in college and totally poetry nerd who would bring jello shots to poetry readings and once sang "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner" to the tune of "House of the Rising Sun" in front of a group of people.

  2. Something you don't know about me (everything because I don't have my own blog) but one thing is: I lust after your saddle. I can't find any way to buy one, but I really, really want one.

    1. Olivia - I might have to sell my saddle, if you are interested. You can email me directly at crickestfouronethree@gmaildotcom. It no longer fits Ashke's back and if my saddle fitter can't fix it, I will be putting it up for sale. (It is the only saddle Prestige makes that doesn't have an adjustable tree). Ashke's back is becoming incredibly wide.

  3. Something you don't know about me is: I'm really enjoying getting into distance riding, partly because I have always had this odd desire to be diffrent. And I was getting far to normal in the last several years. It's been fun to shock my friends a little! This is also why I love the idea of Western Dressage. I can totally see that it is kinda wrong, as the first serious riding/training I did was dressage. And I have always preached that all horses can benefit from dressage training. But I will not go out in public in breeches so....Crazy colored tights will camoflauge the lumpy well I hope!

  4. Hi. I was introduced to your blog by Waiting for the Jump. I have been admiring the brow band you made for her. I'm a professional writer and editor but don't have my own blog!! Perhaps the most interesting thing about me is that I live in a barn, directly across the aisle from my horse. My lifelong dream was to live on a farm so over a year ago i rented a small apartment in a barn on a local farm. Two rooms with no kitchen and I love every minute of it. I've learned so much about horses in the past year since now I live with my horse, Queenie and 32 other horses.

  6. Let's see one thing you don't know about me. I've regret one thing in life, huffing glue in middle school instead of learning math.

  7. One thing you don't know about me...well....everything. I seriously doubt you could pick me out of a line up. 😊 However, I have a miniature horse named Princess Buttercup who runs the paddock she shares with a pony named Westley and a retired race horse. She's not a companion, she's a pistol! We are currently training for animal therapy and will do anything for an apple cookie.

  8. Love your browbands! They are truly beautiful. A thing you & pretty much most horse people don't know about me. I was a dancer in the Zoot Suit Riot video (http://youtu.be/rq7fuCRJULk) if you look at 0:44 you can see my face being smashed by Jeff B Davis who was my partner. 2 days of the most fun you can have not on a horse.

  9. oh my...where to start....I LOVE goats. I saved one from slaughter years ago and he had no appreciation for my efforts so he is now a professional weedeater in Elizabeth.

  10. Love the browbands! Let's see... once when I was 7 I climbed the wooden light pole in front of our house, not as a dare, but just to see if I could reach the top. I did and then I slid down. Did I mention it was a wooden pole and I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt? Thousands of splinters (literally!) later my mom and her friend had to try to hold me down to pull splinters out. True story.

  11. I've set aside my musical talents in recent years to pursue other things, but I really miss playing some sort of instrument. My parents forced me into violin and piano lessons in elementary and middle school - I hated every second of it, but I was decent at both and really learned to read music well. By the time middle school and high school rolled around I picked up the alto sax and became very adept at it. I still have mine. I was 1st chair for awhile with it, too. I haven't played in years sadly - I loved playing jazz and was learning the art of improv when I stopped playing. I'm thinking heavily on picking up mandolin soon though to bring music back into my life.
