Photo Shoot

One of the women at the barn is a professional photographer. Her name is Elizabeth Lord and all photos included in this post are copyrighted by her and used with her permission. She had asked if I would be willing to participate in a photo shoot with Sally and Ibn. I agreed. Ibn is another grey Arabian in the barn, but I don't know his lineage very well.

We got to the barn early Saturday to find that Ashke spent several moments the night before laying in the mud. His left side was caked with little mud balls tangled in his mane. Washing him was fun, but wash him we did and he was vividly white when we were done.

He is very photogenic.

He was very curious and willing to pose.

He wasn't as happy about being with Ibn, however, given that Ibn just wanted to nip and bite at him. Getting them both together in the photo was difficult.

Either Ibn had his ears back, or Ashke had an ear cocked sideways at Ibn.

We took pictures in three different places and some of them worked better than others.

Cattails in the background, thistle in the fore. Doesn't he look majestic?

Ibn biting at Ashke. Common theme.

So alert and attentive.

Liz had a carrot stick with a plastic bag on the end, plus a dog toy to help attract the horses' attention. They got desensitized pretty quick. I used my phone to turn on some music. Ashke was so interested he almost curled up in my lap.

I really like this one.

This is the look he gets when he sees Cali. N was working her in the outdoor arena.

I'm going to have this one printed in a 8 x 10. It is one of my faves.

We turned them loose in the arena for about 5 minutes and let them move at liberty. It might have worked better if the arena was smaller, as it was they had lots of room to move. Ashke's only thought was watching Cali.

I love his eye.

My favorite photo of the day.
